Vacancy 01/19 EXECUTIVE ADVISER
The South Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) invites applications for the position of Executive Adviser to join its Secretariat located in Suva, Fiji. Representing 20 member countries, SPTO markets and develops tourism for its members.
This position directly reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the provision of sound advice and recommendations pertaining to strategic matters relating to the vision and missions of SPTO as well as its strategic planned objectives. The Executive Adviser also ensures that the CEO is well prepared for all meetings/engagements and to ensure that all public releases from the CEO’s office have been appropriately reviewed and approved for dissemination. Furthermore, the Executive Advisor will be required to coordinate SPTO Board & Council of Tourism Minister’s meeting papers and meeting minutes are of high quality and internal management minutes are well recorded. Additionally, Monitoring and Evaluation will be conducted by the incumbent on the monthly, quarterly and annual achievements of the Organization, as well as develop Annual and other reports.
We are looking for someone has exceptional writing skills, multi-skilled, a critical thinker, has a ‘can do’ attitude with strong eye for detail, efficient, well organised, proactive, excellent computer skills, emphatic to all levels and cultures present in the organisation and can empower and effectively engage staff, has the ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary, cross-cultural environment, is committed to excellent customer service and capacity development initiatives. To be considered for this position you do not need to specifically have tourism experience or tourism qualification. However, you must have at least a tertiary degree in any of the following key areas: policy development, economics, administration, business management, HR, Sales & Marketing, Tourism Management or any other relevant area with a minimum of 3- years relevant work experience. Flexibility may be given to candidates who may not have the minimum number of years but have performed exceptionally well in their study and current work. The successful applicant is also expected to have strong monitoring and evaluation skills, self-management skills, exhibit excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in English and ability to work well within a team.
Remuneration offered will be determined according to the successful candidate’s relevant experience and skills.
